📰 PRL has been gaining strength, and what the market is buying isn’t just a token—it’s Pearl’s new approach: letting GPUs run AI inference while also participating in mining. When the equipment is working, it may generate both AI service revenue and PRL rewards.
🔥 This mechanism is called PoUW, or “Proof of Useful Work.” Pearl incorporates matrix multiplication, which is more closely associated with AI computing, into the mining process, aiming to put computing power that was previously used mainly to maintain the blockchain to work on AI tasks as well. It sounds promising, but the key question is whether there are real customers willing to pay for that computing power.

💡 The partnership between Pearl and Together AI is an early example. Together AI once launched a Gemma model service that incorporated Pearl’s mining mechanism, saying that the related API pricing was over 25% lower because expected mining rewards could subsidize computing costs. This approach shows signs of commercialization, but the partnership alone isn’t enough to conclude that demand has been validated.

👀 On the other hand, around 16.4% of the tokens are in circulation, while the maximum supply is 2.1 billion; ongoing issuance through mining could also create selling pressure. The valuation thresholds mentioned in the article are not low. Ultimately, it comes down to real paid demand for computing, business revenue, and whether that business activity can translate into value for the token.

🤔 Honestly, combining AI computing with mining is certainly appealing, but making the technology work and building a sustainable business are two different challenges. Do you think Pearl needs to prove real customer demand first, or show how PRL captures value?
