Tuesday, October 13, and the P2P market opens the day with a figure worth unpacking: 264 active offers and a 15,79% premium over the BCV rate. It’s not a dramatic day, but it is an instructive one. 😎

Today’s figures, laid out:

• Buy $USDT: Bs. 1015,26

• Sell $USDT: Bs. 997,43

• Spread: Bs. 17,83 (1,79%)

• BCV: Bs. 876,80

Take a look at the detail almost no one talks about: there’s a gap of Bs. 138,46 between the BCV reference rate and what a digital dollar costs you. That’s the real cost of entering the market today. It’s not an exchange’s whim or one particular seller’s doing: it’s what it costs to find a counterparty when demand is high.

Now, the spread. 1.79% is a pretty reasonable range for the week we’ve had. When the spread goes above 2.5%, the message is clear: there are few active sellers, and the ones who are active know they have the upper hand. Today isn’t one of those days.

But the number I like most is the other one: 264 offers. Depth. When the order book has 264 listings, you decide: compare, choose, negotiate. When it has 60, the person with the $USDT sets the price, and you just nod along. That difference is worth more than any technical analysis.

Three things I always check before moving a bolívar:

1. I don’t take the first offer on the list. I read the first five and compare.

2. I check the other party’s bank, reputation, and account age before releasing the funds.

3. I have the exact amount and proof of payment ready before opening the chat.

The market doesn’t warn you when things are about to get ugly, but the numbers do. Today, the P2P market is calm: high premium, contained spread, and a deep order book. We’ll see what tomorrow brings.

And keep this in mind, something we always forget: that 15.79% premium says more about the exchange-rate gap than about crypto. You have the bolívares; the other person has the foreign currency.
