Anthropic will directly help customers by training engineers who will use Claude. According to an official announcement by Anthropic on October 2 (US time), the company invested $100 million to establish the “Claude Frontier Academy,” with the goal of training 10,000 “frontier-deployed engineers” (Frontier Deployed Engineer, FDE) by the end of 2027—engineers who move into companies’ internal teams and take AI from concept to official launch.

The first cohort of students comes from eight companies, including McKinsey and Morgan Stanley.

The first cohort includes students from companies and consulting firms such as Accenture, Bain, Capgemini, the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Deloitte, McKinsey, Morgan Stanley, and Novo Nordisk, with courses held simultaneously in San Francisco, New York, and London. Admission is nomination-based: companies put forward their strongest engineers to participate. At check-in, each person must bring a Claude project that they will lead back at their company.

Anthropic says that while every company is rushing to adopt AI, the hardest talent to find is the people who can make AI work in real business operations. Steve Corfield, head of global business development and partnerships at Anthropic, said: “The Claude Frontier Academy uses the same learning approach as our own engineers to train people, with the goal that graduates can set standards for how companies build AI internally.”

Modeled after physician training: first pass hands-on exams, then complete a 12-week internship at your own company

The first course, “FDE Residency,” follows the physician training model: learn from practitioners, practice with real-world case studies, and earn a qualification through assessments. Students first take several days of in-person classes, led by Anthropic engineers and certified instructors, completing a full simulated company AI implementation process—from selecting use cases, to security review, to handover—ending with a practical test in a new scenario where they are scored.

Those who pass receive a “Claude Resident Engineer” badge and enter a 12-week internship period, during which they lead a Claude application project at their own company with support from Anthropic engineers. After 12 weeks, there is another evaluation; those who pass receive a “Claude Frontier Deployed Engineer” badge. The first batch is expected to be produced in early 2027.

Building on the network of Claude partner ecosystems, more than 175,000 certifications have already been issued

This program is built on the Claude partner network. Anthropic notes that, at present, more than 46,000 companies have professionals who have earned over 175,000 Claude certifications, and nearly 4,000 people have completed the same training program used when joining Anthropic’s internal Applied AI teams.

According to a CNBC report, Shambhavi Shambhavi, operating director of Anthropic’s partner strategy, said that both customers and partners say they need people who understand enterprise technology and business context, and who also have the highest level of AI capability, to solve real problems. CNBC also mentioned that Anthropic plans to go public later this year.
