The Venezuelan P2P market kicked off on September 24 with two storylines that sound similar but don't say the same thing. The first is macro: the country's crypto activity grew 107% year-over-year and is approaching USD 39,100 million, according to the figure published by DiarioBitcoin. The second is micro: PitbullChain's radar recorded 174 active offers, 12 payment methods available, and a 4.41% spread between the USDT buy and sell prices.

Both figures are true. The error is reading them as if one explains the other. This piece separates three layers: the published fact, the measurable calculation, and the interpretation. Nothing that follows is an investment recommendation.

📊 The macro record: USD 39.100 million and +107%

The reference figure is accumulated volume over the last year, not price or profitability. A larger market in traded amount doesn’t guarantee better price conditions for each user at every moment.

To put the real size in perspective, take the July reference: Ecoanalítica estimated that Venezuela transacts around USD 44 million per day in USDT via Binance P2P. And a TRM Labs report cited by Yahoo placed Venezuela increasing positions in global adoption with USDT as the spearhead. All of that describes demand. None of that describes the price a person gets today at 08:00.

📈 The measurable fact: 174 offers, 12 payment methods, and a radar with 4,41%

These are the verified radar P2P data for September 24 at 08:00 UTC:

• Active offers: 174 (62 on the buy side and 112 on the sell side, according to the system’s liquidity signal).

• Available payment methods: 12, including Pago Móvil, Banesco, Mercantil, Provincial, Bancamiga, and Banco de Venezuela.

• Radar buy price: Bs. 979,19 per USDT.

• Radar sell price: Bs. 937,81 per USDT.

• Radar spread: Bs. 41,38, equivalent to 4,41%.

• BCV dollar: Bs. 854,4637, with no reported change during the day.

• Parallel dollar via Binance P2P: Bs. 966,04, with its own spread of 0,33%.

Translated into concrete transactions: 100 USDT on the sell side represented Bs. 93.780,89, and one million bolívares was enough for 1.066,32 USDT. These are arithmetic conversions, not projections.

The market’s traffic light showed 71 out of 100, in yellow, with the label “Moderate caution”. The sub-scores explain why: liquidity 95, banking availability 95, volatility 95, but spread 20 and depth 45.

🔎 The contrast: the order book shows 0,30% real

Here is the difference that almost nobody explains. The radar summarizes the market at two broad extremes: Bs. 979,19 and Bs. 937,81. The order book, which aggregates listings from Binance and other platforms, shows a much tighter reality:

• Best ask (USDT buy): Bs. 968.

• Best bid (USDT sell): Bs. 965,13.

• Real spread: Bs. 2,87, equivalent to 0,30%.

• Mid price: Bs. 966,57.

• Listings aggregated in the order book: 161, between Binance and other platforms.

The distance between the radar purchase price (Bs. 979,19) and the best real ask (Bs. 968) is Bs. 11,19. This is not a radar error: there are two different ways to measure. The radar uses references from price headlines; the order book measures what is actually published with amount and available limit.

💰 The premium vs. the BCV: 14,6%, with methodological nuances

With the radar purchase price (Bs. 979,19) and the official rate (Bs. 854,4637), the premium vs. the BCV is calculated at 14,60%. Our own internal signals returned 12,18% using another price reference. The difference is not a failure: it’s methodology. The premium changes depending on whether the purchase price, the sell price, or a midpoint is used.

That detail matters because the premium is the most cited and most misunderstood indicator. It doesn’t measure cost or opportunity by itself; it measures the distance between two price references at a given moment.

🛡️ Liquidity by bank: the short spread is in traditional banking

Liquidity is distributed unevenly, and that’s where useful information appears:

• Pago Móvil: 36 ads, 24,5% of measured liquidity, spread of 2,62%.

• Another method: 34 ads, 23,1% of liquidity, spread of 2,75%.
