#BTC ALERT ‼️ | LIQUID NETWORK | INCIDENT AT US$ 320 MILLION‼️
This Sunday (06), the Liquid Network suffered a serious security incident involving approximately 4,000 BTC, valued at more than US$ 320 million.
The movement occurred after a possible exploitation of a flaw in Elements, the software used by Liquid. Those responsible for the operation stated on-chain that they were “white hats” (ethical hackers), but this claim still does not mean the group’s intent or identity has been confirmed.
⚠️ IMPORTANT: Bitcoin was not hacked. The incident occurred on the Liquid Network, a Bitcoin sidechain developed by Blockstream.
Liquid was temporarily paused while the case is investigated and, so far, there is no confirmation of a sale of the BTC involved.
‼️IMPACT ON THE MARKET
For now, I treat this as a point of attention and not as a standalone trigger for a drop in $BTC. The risk increases if these thousands of BTC begin to be moved to exchanges or show signs of preparation for sale.
