I WAS TRICKED INTO MOVING TO ANOTHER PLATFORM AND LOST $230

On March 02—right on my birthday—this should have been a happy day, a time for me to enjoy with my family and friends. But in the end, it turned into the saddest birthday I’ve ever had.

I trusted a Merchant too much because its transaction profile looked fairly solid. Then the partner directed me to another platform to exchange and continue trading. At that time, I didn’t think things could become this serious.

After moving to the other platform, the partner again asked me to transfer money to a third person’s account. Being careless and trusting the partner’s explanation, I followed their instructions. As a result, I lost $230.

After that, I drew a few lessons that I think everyone trading P2P should remember:

🔹 Don’t move the trade to another platform
If the counterparty asks to move to Telegram, Zalo, or any other platform to continue trading, I will stop and verify instead of following through.

🔹 Don’t transfer money to a third party
If the recipient’s name doesn’t match the payment information on the order, I won’t transfer—no matter what reasons the counterparty gives.

🔹 A reputable Merchant doesn’t mean you can be careless
I still check every detail before transferring money, even if the counterparty has a large transaction history.

🔹 Always keep evidence
I will save the order code, chat contents, payment information, and transfer history so I have all the information needed if I need to file a complaint.

Losing $230 on my birthday is a lesson I’m sure I won’t forget.
