This morning I placed a sell order for 2,800 USD. The buyer came in to confirm the order, but instead of transferring the funds, they messaged: "Unbind/cancel the order, and message me on Zalo—I’ll buy with a spread for you of an extra 500đ/USDT. Do it off-platform to be faster; I’ll cover the bank fees."
At first glance it sounds like a good deal—you suddenly pocket an extra million-odd VND. But be careful: this is a classic "scam move" meant to strip away the protection that safeguards you!
Why absolutely should you NOT agree?
Because when you cancel the order on the exchange, the Margin mechanism (Escrow) will instantly unlock the 2,800 USD and return it to your wallet. If you send these coins directly to the scammer’s personal wallet, you’ll lose everything with no organization to protect you.
Instead of chasing easy money, here’s how I handle it:
Refuse firmly: Reply on the platform, "I absolutely refuse to do any off-platform transactions."
Verify in reality: No matter what promises the buyer makes, just open the official banking app to check the balance. If the money hasn’t shown up, stop right there and ignore any name-matching checks.
Handle incidents: If the buyer deliberately clicks "Marked as paid" without actually transferring the money, I just copy the Order ID code and file a dispute. The Binance Support experts working 24/7 will step in and cancel the order safely in no time.
For P2P transactions: it’s better to accept a slightly lower rate and stay safe than to be greedy over small gains and end up losing everything—lock, stock, and barrel!
