According to U.Today, Cardano is about to usher in a major breakthrough, namely the upcoming Ouroboros Genesis upgrade. This marks a critical moment for Cardano to achieve full peer-to-peer (P2P) node operations, a goal that has been carefully pursued by its loyal community and developers.

P2P networks are essential to the long-term decentralization, security, and resilience of blockchains, allowing participants to communicate, synchronize data, and reach consensus. Cardano's transition from the existing hybrid model to a full P2P network has already begun. In March 2023, Dynamic P2P automated the node selection process.

According to Input Output Global (IOG), the builder of Cardano, the final step to full P2P node operations is expected to come with the upcoming Ouroboros Genesis release. Ouroboros Genesis will be deployed as part of the Chang upgrade, which is expected to take place this summer. In addition, the transition to full P2P node operations is expected to improve the scalability and throughput of the Cardano network, allowing it to accommodate a wider range of applications and use cases.
