According to Foresight News, the Starknet Foundation has announced that the Starknet mainnet will undergo an upgrade to Starknet 0.13.1 during the Ethereum Dencun upgrade. This update will add support for EIP4844, which will lower DA costs, and optimize the shared prover SHARP to reduce computational expenses. With the release of Starknet 0.13.1, Starknet will transition from using the expensive 'calldata' method to send data to Ethereum to the more cost-effective 'blobs' transaction type, significantly reducing costs. Calldata currently accounts for 85% to 90% of the gas fees paid for transactions published on the Starknet network.
In addition, Starknet plans to support Dynamic Layouts technology by the end of the third quarter, which will optimize space within transaction proofs and significantly reduce costs, thereby lowering user fees. Starknet also aims to introduce the Volition feature by the end of 2024 or early 2025 to further reduce costs, allowing developers to choose between storing data directly on the blockchain or off-chain based on cost and security requirements.
