[The United States and South Korea discuss responding to North Korea’s cyber threats to prevent North Korea from stealing cryptocurrency for espionage activities through cyber means] Golden Finance reported that the United States and South Korea held the fifth working group meeting on responding to North Korea’s cyber threats in Washington, D.C., to discuss how to coordinate efforts, Eradicate illegal cyber activities, an important means by which North Korea funds its development of weapons of mass destruction (WMD). The meeting discussed how to strengthen coordination between the two countries to disrupt the means used by North Korea to fund its illicit development of weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missiles, including malicious cyber activity, cryptocurrency theft and information technology (IT) workers. The U.S. State Department explained that the two countries are taking broad measures to prevent North Korea’s cyber theft of cryptocurrency and financing, address cyber espionage in the defense industry, and dismantle North Korea’s network of information technology workers.​
