Snowtrace.io, the Avalanche (AVAX) blockchain explorer tool, has announced it will shut down its Etherscan-powered website on November 30. Users are advised to save backup information, such as private name tags and contact verification details, before the closure. The Snowtrace team did not provide a reason for the shutdown, but some speculate it could be due to Etherscan's service fees for its Explorer-as-a-Service (EaaS) toolkit, which can cost between $1-$2 million per year. Despite the closure, Ava Labs' head of strategy and operations, Phillip Liu Jr., reassured users that the protocol is "moving onto something better" and will not cease operations.
