Nigerian Judge Denies Bail for Detained Binance CEO
- The Nigerian Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) case against the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange, Binance, continues to drag on. The judge has denied a second bail application for Binance's chief financial officer, Tigran Gambaryan, who has been in custody since February.
- According to a report from Nairametrics, Judge Emeka Nwite denied the bail application because the first appeal is still pending. Gambaryan is accused of money laundering and helping Binance conceal more than $35.4 million from illegal activities.
- Although Gambaryan's lawyer cited poor health to secure bail, the judge upheld the decision due to lack of new information on his medical condition.
