The XRP community, known as the XRP Army, recently launched a petition on Change.org urging the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to drop its appeal in the ongoing Ripple v. SEC lawsuit. Within just a few days, the petition has garnered nearly 10,000 signatures.
Supporters argue that the four-year-long battle has damaged Ripple’s reputation and created confusion within the broader cryptocurrency sector. They believe the SEC’s appeal contradicts its core mission of protecting investors and ensuring fair markets.
“The SEC’s frivolous appeal in the Ripple case only adds unnecessary complexity and uncertainty to the digital currency market,” the petition states.
Last week, the SEC filed a formal notice of appeal in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. This followed a district court’s August ruling, which the SEC claims contains significant legal errors. The XRP Army contends that the SEC’s continued pursuit of legal action is harming not just Ripple but the entire cryptocurrency industry.
Ripple supporters believe that ending the appeal is vital for the stability of the crypto market and urge the SEC to reconsider. They argue that the commission’s actions are causing unnecessary hardship for individual investors, potentially setting a dangerous precedent for future crypto regulation.
The petition concludes with a clear message: “Stop the SEC’s baseless appeal in the Ripple v. SEC final judgment.”
