Odaily Planet Daily News New York financial regulator NYDFS is recruiting a senior blockchain analysis analyst to address financial crimes in the crypto industry, including money laundering. The position is located in New York or Albany, with a starting salary of $84,156 and a maximum salary of $106,454. Candidates should have at least one year of experience in the crypto industry, using blockchain analysis and open source intelligence tools. There is also an in-depth understanding of the Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering (AML) rules and related legal frameworks. Applicants will use blockchain analysis and on-chain attribution associated with virtual currency licensees regulated by DFS to assess the risk of illegal activities, and will also monitor dashboards to detect violations of money laundering or sanctions regulations, and require further investigation and reporting. In January 2015, NYDFS created the Virtual Currency Unit to enforce the BitLicense framework for businesses that handle virtual currencies. The unit is responsible for investigating violations such as fraud, unauthorized operations, cybersecurity, and anti-money laundering violations. Earlier this year, New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli highlighted the possible regulatory gaps in NYDFS's management of virtual currency licenses. The office released a report urging the department to improve its BitLicense program, citing concerns about its financial sustainability and cybersecurity measures. (Cryptonews)
