With the release of an HBO documentary on Wednesday claiming to reveal the true identity of Satoshi Nakamoto, Polymarket bettors are actively speculating about who it could be. At the time of writing, Len Sassaman, who previously led the betting, has fallen behind, while Blockstream's Adam Back is now leading with a 22.5% probability of being named Satoshi in the "Money Electric" movie at 10:21 a.m. ET. Meanwhile, the odds have changed dramatically in the last 20 minutes.
Polymarket Bets Shift — Adam Back, Nick Szabo and Len Sassaman Odds Shift
Three days ago, Polymarket bettors began placing bets on who would be identified as Satoshi Nakamoto in the upcoming documentary “Money Electric.” At the time, Len Sassaman was the top pick with a 49% chance. However, things have changed and the total betting volume has now reached $5.5 million. Blockstream CEO Adam Back is now in the lead with a 22.5% chance of being identified as the Bitcoin creator in the film.
Sassaman's odds have dropped to 8.5%, with Nick Szabo trailing at 8%. Hal Finney, once at 15%, has dropped to a 4.3% chance. Meanwhile, Paul Le Roux and David Kleiman have seen slight increases, with odds now hovering between 2.5% and 1%. All other potential candidates, including Craig Wright, Dorian Nakamoto and Wei Dai, now have negative odds.
By 10:45 a.m. ET, the odds had changed again, with Back down to an 18% chance, while Sassaman had regained the lead at 20.5% and Szabo's chances had increased to 14%. Given the unpredictable nature of betting and speculation, it's likely that these odds will continue to change dramatically. In fact, you can see the odds change right before your eyes in real time. Our newsroom has been documenting the odds as Back leads.
As anticipation builds for HBO’s “Money Electric” documentary, the changing odds on Polymarket reflect the uncertainty surrounding the true identity of Satoshi Nakamoto. While Adam Back is currently in the lead, the fluctuating bets suggest the question may not be resolved. The outcome, regardless of who is named, is likely to fuel ongoing speculation in the cryptocurrency community.
