**EigenLayer Eyes Consumer Web3 Apps Post-EIGEN Unlock**
EigenLayer, Ethereum's top restaking protocol, is gearing up to onboard consumer Web3 applications following the Oct. 1 unlock of its native token, EIGEN. Founder Sreeram Kannan revealed that the initial focus will be on high-throughput consumer apps like DeFi and gaming, before expanding to broader markets.
With around $11 billion in restaked collateral, EigenLayer secures numerous third-party protocols. The EIGEN token, trading at $3.50, aims to scale protocol revenues from actively validated services (AVSs), benefiting EIGEN stakers.
EigenLayer’s AVS, EigenDA, will serve as a gateway for consumer apps, specializing in data availability. Other AVSs include ARPA Network and eOracle. A new incentives program will reward restakers with EIGEN emissions, designed to boost this multi-sided marketplace.
Kannan envisions EIGEN staking as a future replacement for multisignature wallets, enhancing the decentralization and trust in Web3 protocols.
