U.S. Congressman Warren Davidson introduced the "Evaluating DeFi Opportunities Act" on Tuesday, calling on the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and the Secretary of the Treasury to conduct a joint study on decentralized finance (DeFi). Lawmakers pointed out that the total market value of DeFi has soared to about $75 billion, but excessive regulation may stifle innovation and cause investment to flow abroad. The bill aims to help regulators understand the benefits of DeFi, such as the operational resilience of blockchain, market competition, and user privacy protection.
