Michael Lewis, the author of best-selling books such as "The Big Short", "Moneyball", and "The Big Deal", disclosed in his new book centered on FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF) that SBF had considered paying Trump (Donald Trump) to prevent him from running for President of the United States.

Michael Lewis’s new book is titled Going Infinite: The Rise and Fall of a New Tycoon and will be published on October 3rd. Lewis recently spoke about the former cryptocurrency billionaire during an interview on 60 Minutes.

"He becomes toxic. Like, nobody wants to talk to him. He has no friends,’" says Michael Lewis.“There is still a Sam-Bankman-Fried-shaped hole in the world that now needs filling” for someone driven by their ideals to do good on a large scale, Lewis says. https://t.co/Xyofx7MQUU pic.twitter.com/NSDTGqnYaW

“If you don’t know Sam, it’s just going to shock you,” Lewis said of the SBF’s consideration of paying Trump to prevent him from running. “What Sam was thinking was, we could pay Trump to stop him from running. Don’t elect a president, like how much money does it cost?”

Lewis added that "when Sam and I were talking about this, the number that was circulating was $5 billion," and that SBF was unsure if that number came directly from Trump. Lewis noted that the SBF is also looking into the legality of the matter.

Lewis said:

"They were still having conversations when things went wrong with FTX, so why didn't it happen? He doesn't have $5 billion anymore."

According to Lewis, the SBF believes Trump is trying to undermine American democracy and believes he should be placed on one of the existential risk lists.

According to Cointelegraph, the high-profile SBF trial will begin on October 3, with the first official trial day being October 4. The trial will involve seven counts of fraud against SBF, including two substantive charges and five "conspiracy" charges. The prosecution must convince the jury that SBF committed the crime and planned the crime.
