The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has filed a lawsuit against alleged cryptocurrency Ponzi scheme NovaTech and eight of its promoters, accusing them of fraud and violating federal securities laws.

- NovaTech allegedly defrauded investors of about $650 million over four years.

- More than 200,000 investors worldwide were harmed, including groups of Haitian Americans.

- The company's founders, Cynthia and Eddie Petion, are believed to be based in Panama.

- The SEC is seeking a permanent injunction, disgorgement, and civil penalties.
