About Qtum (QTUM)

Qtum (pronounced “quantum”) is a decentralized blockchain network and cryptocurrency that was created as a digital payments disruptor across multiple tech-aligned industries.

The network was reportedly inspired by both Ethereum and Bitcoin. It employs security akin to that of Bitcoin, alongside smart contract implementation similar to that of the Ethereum network. Unlike Bitcoin and pre-Merge Ethereum, however, Qtum implements a Proof-of-Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism.

In May 2023, Qtum partnered with Tenet, a layer-1 ecosystem for generating yield and utility for liquid staking derivatives (LSD) and Conflux to boost LSD exposure in China. The partnership will see Qtum provide Tenet with liquidity staking derivatives (LSDs), offering its users a wider range of staking products. The partnership will also help Tenet to tap into the large Chinese market.

Qtum’s native cryptocurrency, QTUM, is used to pay for network operations like transaction fees on its platform. QTUM price is updated and available in real-time on Binance.

People Also Ask: Other Questions About Qtum

  1. What Does Qtum Stand For?

Qtum is an abbreviation of the word “quantum” and is pronounced similarly.

  2. What Is the Use of QTUM Cryptocurrency?

QTUM is used throughout the Qtum ecosystem, mainly as a digital crypto asset for gas and any transaction-related fees. The Qtum network allows QTUM holders to hold, spend, send, or stake their tokens — regardless of how many QTUM they have.

  3. How Do Network Consensus and Validation Work on Qtum?

Unlike the more resource-intensive Proof-of-Work (PoW) consensus model used by Bitcoin and Ethereum before the Merge, Qtum uses a PoS model. Each miner can be involved in validating transactions and other network operations for a stake, which rewards them based on its total combined value. The more an individual stakes, the more likely the node will be included in the process.

  4. Who is the Founder of Qtum ?

Qtum was founded in 2016 by Patrick Dai, Jordan Earls, and Neil Mahi. Its initial coin offering (ICO), which was held in March 2017, raised $15 million. The Qtum Foundation was established in 2016 and is currently based in Singapore.

  5.  What is the Maximum Token Supply of QTUM?

QTUM has a maximum supply of 107,822,406 tokens, all of which are in circulation at the time of writing.

  6. What Makes Qtum Different From Others?

The main aspect of Qtum that distinguishes it from other decentralized projects is its combination of Bitcoin’s security and Ethereum’s interoperability. To realize this goal, Qtum was reportedly the first ever PoS blockchain to be developed using the Bitcoin UTXO transaction model and Ethereum-based smart contract capabilities.

  7. How To Buy QTUM?

QTUM can be purchased directly from Binance using a debit or credit card and traded for other cryptocurrencies on the exchange. Live QTUM price is updated in real-time on Binance. Additional QTUM price and purchase information is available in our How to Buy Qtum (QTUM) Guide.
