What Is Harmony Used And Known Most For?

Harmony is a blockchain network that seeks to solve the blockchain scalability and security issue, and to make decentralization the top choice for global payments over mainstream processors such as Visa. High-throughput, independent processing takes place within the deep sharding processed on the Harmony blockchain. As an intermediary for the seamless transfer of multiple cryptocurrency assets on different blockchain platforms, Harmony also bridges Ethereum, Binance, and other blockchains.

How Do Network Consensus And Validation Work On Harmony?

Harmony uses a delegated proof-of-stake (DPoS) consensus mechanism, which implements a Fast Byzantine Fault Tolerance (FBFT) model that advances the original proof-of-work (PoW) and PoS models in several ways. For instance, nodes in the Harmony network need not engage in vote broadcasting, which drastically reduces transaction and settlement times.

Validators are chosen in the advanced PoS model. The greater the amount of tokens held by a validator node, the greater the chance it will be chosen in the transaction validation process to verify and add blocks for rewards.
