Crypto Against COVID Official Results: $4 Million Raised, More Than 20 Countries Helped
Binance Charity has made a major contribution and impact worldwide through its Crypto Against COVID campaign. As the campaign continues, find out about the latest updates on how the initiative has made a difference in the global fight against the pandemic around the world.
Crypto Against COVID, Binance Charityâs initiative to support hospitals and other institutions around the world in combating the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, has been an 8-month pursuit.
To date, the Binance ecosystem, including the Binance exchange and Binance Charity, donated $3.3 million, while various donors have contributed around $1 million. In total, we have collected $4.3 million worth of cryptocurrencies in total. We have used these donations to purchase more than 1.5 million personal protective equipment (PPEs) and distribute them to over 20 countries around the world, including nations that were hit the worst by the pandemic.
We have used the funds to purchase PPE supplies ranging from N95 masks to other professional-grade surgical masks and protective suits. Our Binance Angels in the various countries where we sent donations have helped facilitate the distribution of these donations to ensure transparency.
Hereâs a breakdown of the various donations we made to each country:
Each transaction we undertake for this campaign, from the receiving of donations to the allocation and spending of funds, is recorded on the blockchain. You can verify it firsthand on our website.
We thank all the donors and partners thus far who have helped us in sending aid around the world. With our donorsâ help, we were not only able to assist our healthcare heroes, but also show the world the transparency and effectiveness of blockchain technology and its use in philanthropy.Â
âBinance is proud to help those on the front lines of the fight against the global pandemic, through direct contributions and through the creation of a platform that will continue to help long after COVID has been conquered,â Helen Hai, Head of Binance Charity, said. âAt Binance Charity, our mission is to amplify the use of this cutting-edge technology for social good, and with COVID-19âs unprecedented arrival and startling spread, we have provided a transparent and trustworthy approach to remedying the spread of the pandemic.â
Every donation made to Binance Charity and the allocation records made to end-beneficiaries is encrypted on an immutable public ledger that generates a transaction ID for donors to track every step, from the receiving of donations to the allocation and spending of funds. You can verify it here. For more details on the journey of your crypto contributions to Binance Charity, read this blog.
âBlockchain technology is a powerful antidote to a problem that has long plagued the philanthropy sector: distributed ledgers today have the speed, scalability, and above all immutability and transparency to alleviate donor concerns, ultimately maximizing charitable impact,â Helen added.
As our Crypto Against COVID campaign is still ongoing, it is still not too late to donate and lend your support towards our healthcare heroes. You can donate here. We are humbled and thankful for the involvement of our donors, supporters, and the Binance community. Together, we have saved and aided in hundreds of thousands of lives and counting.
