Binance Charity Donates More Than $100,000 in KN95 Masks to Brazilian Indigenous Communities
This is the second COVID-19 donation from the global blockchain company to the country

Binance, the global blockchain company behind the largest digital asset brokerage by volume of trading and users, through Binance Charity, its nonprofit arm, announces new donation in Brazil, one of the countries hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. The beneficiaries of this donation are the indigenous peoples from the north of the country, who will receive 50,400 KN95 surgical masks, which total $100,800 (about 540,000 BRL).
The masks, sent from Miami, arrived in Belém in the last week of October 2020. Transport and distribution are being coordinated by the Federation of Indigenous Peoples of Parå (FEPIPA), in partnership with the Indigenous Missionary Council (CIMI) and the Special Indigenous Sanitary District (DSEI) Guamå-Tocantins.
The masks started to be distributed in November, in the four DSEIS that work directly with indigenous health in ParĂĄ (KaiapĂł, GuamĂĄ-Tocantins, Altamira, and Rio TapajĂłs), in addition to being distributed by the RaĂzes Program, for quilombolas and traditional communities, and by the Association of Indigenous Peoples Students at the Federal University of ParĂĄ (Apyeufpa), for indigenous people living in an urban context.
The masks will be distributed according to the population size of each community and their degree of vulnerability (number of registered cases, deaths, and distance from cities). The materials will be delivered to indigenous health teams, who will be instructed on the use and disposal of the masks and will coordinate local distribution.
This is the second time that Binance Charity has made a donation to Brazil. In July, the donation was 13,600 surgical masks delivered to the Irmandade Santa Casa de MisericĂłrdia in SĂŁo Paulo. "Binance Charity has this commitment and is strongly engaged in the fight against COVID-19. We are helping the communities that need it most to overcome this very difficult moment. We are proud to say that more than 300 BTC have been raised and more than 20 countries benefited from our donations during the pandemic," says Changpeng Zhao (CZ), CEO and founder of Binance.
