This October 21, Solana $SOL activates Alpenglow on mainnet.
Finality drops from around 12.8 seconds to a target of 150 milliseconds, and voting moves off-chain. Validators have to migrate to Agave 4.3 clients, and the change happens in a single slot after months of preparation.
For anyone using the network for payments or DeFi, the difference between โconfirmedโ and โfinalizedโ becomes almost invisible.
How do you think it will feel in practice once itโs active?

Ledger confirmed that the implant reads the recovery phrase directly from the screen during setup and sends it over LTE.
MediaMarkt has already removed the products from its stores in Europe, and Ledger asked several Asian distributors to stop sales. The Secure Element remains intact, but that doesnโt prevent someone from capturing whatโs displayed on the screen.
For people who use hardware wallets as their primary layer of protection, the deviceโs origin and the purchase channel matter just as much as the technology itself.
Aptos $APT has just activated the Encrypted Mempool on mainnet, an option that encrypts transaction contents while validators order them. They are only decrypted once the block is finalized.
The mechanism uses the same set of validators that already produces the blocks, without adding an external committee. For institutions and AI agents moving large orders, it reduces exposure to bots that read the mempool.
Gas costs increase, and there are a few extra milliseconds of latency. How practical is it when the market moves fast?
The XRP Ledger $XRP has just fixed a 2015 overflow bug that made it possible to create XRP out of thin air. An AI agent found it, claimed the maximum bounty, and the fix was rushed out because making the patch public before most nodes had it would have been too risky.
At the same time, Standard Chartered is launching custody services for $RLUSD from its Dubai branch. It makes you think about how infrastructure around this network is evolving.
I havenโt traded Futures in quite a while, so Iโm a little rusty. Letโs get back into the swing of things with a small trade, no rush, nice and easy, to get some practice back. Letโs see how it goes.

On Wednesday, spot Bitcoin ETFs $BTC in the U.S. saw outflows of $487.1 million, the largest net outflow since June 25. September had put in about $2.650 billion. October is already in the red. The price broke through $83,000 as oil rose, after the attack options report on Iran, and with Treasury yields back near 2002 highs.
Regulated flows reversed in a session. The $80,000 floor is now in view, and this time with macro factors pushing from the outside.
Can that level hold if the ETF keeps bleeding out? #ETFs
Abstract, Pudgy Penguinsโ layer 2, $PENGU , is shutting down on December 15. Igloo funded it for 18 months and lost tens of millions. They scrapped a token to extend the runway and will focus the budget on the IP. Itโs the second Ethereum network, $ETH , to announce a shutdown in a week, after Blast.
There were more than 325 million transactions and around 400,000 users, but fees werenโt enough to cover operating costs. Nearly 76 million remains to be bridged before the shutdown.
How many consumer L2s are living off the balance sheet of whoever founded them, rather than fee revenue?
Metaplanet described a round trip this Monday that a Bitcoin treasury $BTC almost never puts in a press release.
In the third quarter, it sold 10,000 BTC, worth about $790 million, left the debt unpaid, and then bought back 11,000, bringing its stack to 44,000.
The move was aimed at rating agencies and creditors: the company wants to issue bonds and preferred shares, so it had to show that it could convert its reserves into cash if necessary, while the obligation remained outstanding under its original terms.
That round trip leaves me with one specific question: does it make creditors feel more comfortable, or did they merely see that the company can move its stack when it suits the optics?
The SEC has just put on the table a framework for advisors and custody funds to handle crypto on their own, with tough conditions, and for state trust companies to do so as well. Years of rules written before the internet finally have a draft that names Bitcoin $BTC .
Self-custody appears in the text, surrounded by controls for keys, segregation, and cybersecurity. Anyone who wants to use it will have to support that operation.
How many firms do you think will be willing to bear that cost when the comment period closes?
