EMA stands for Exponential Moving Average.
It is a line plotted on a chart that shows the average price, but it gives more importance (weight) to the most recent prices.
Think of EMA as a guide that answers one simple question:
"Which side is stronger right now—buyers or sellers?"
Instead of watching every candle individually, EMA helps you see the overall trend.
This is one of the most important things to master in trading. EMA (Exponential Moving Average) is not just a line—it tells you the trend, momentum, and dynamic support/resistance.
Using your chart as an example:
Yellow = EMA 20 (short-term trend)
Pink = EMA 50 (medium-term trend)
Purple = EMA 200 (long-term trend)
1. Price Above or Below EMA?
This is the first thing to check.
✅ Price above EMA = Bullish
❌ Price below EMA = Bearish
Example is Your chart:
Price = 60,276
EMA20 = 60,533
Price is below EMA20, so short-term trend is bearish.
2. EMA Slope
Look at whether the EMA is pointing up or down.
↗️ Upward slope = Buyers are strong.
↘️ Downward slope = Sellers are strong.
Your chart:
EMA20, EMA50 and EMA200 are all sloping downward.
This means the overall trend is still bearish.
3. EMA Order
The order of the EMAs tells you how strong the trend is.
Strong Bull Trend
Price > EMA20 > EMA50 > EMA200
Strong Bear Trend
Price < EMA20 < EMA50 < EMA200
Your chart matches the bearish order.
4. EMA Crossovers
When a smaller EMA crosses a larger EMA:
EMA20 crossing above EMA50 = Bullish signal.
EMA20 crossing below EMA50 = Bearish signal.
Never trade on the crossover alone—wait for price confirmation.
5. EMA as Support and Resistance
In an uptrend:
Price often falls to EMA20 or EMA50, then bounces.
In a downtrend:
Price rises to EMA20 or EMA50, then gets rejected.
On your chart, price has bounced but is struggling near EMA20, showing it is acting as resistance.
6. Distance Between Price and EMA
If price is far above the EMA, it may pull back.
If price is far below the EMA, it may rebound.
If price stays close to the EMA, the market is consolidating.
A simple checklist before every trade
Is the price above or below EMA20?
Is EMA20 sloping up or down?
Is EMA20 above or below EMA50?
Where is EMA200?
Is price respecting or breaking the EMA?
If 4 out of 5 answers are bullish, look for long trades.
If 4 out of 5 answers are bearish, look for short trades.
