El Drift Protocol, the prominent decentralized Solana-based perpetual futures exchange, officially opened its claims and redemptions portal for the recovery token DFX. This measure aims to compensate users affected by the devastating mass hack on April 1, which drained approximately $295.4 million from the platform in an attack carried out by actors linked to North Korea. Those affected will receive one DFX token for each verified USDT loss in the snapshot of that day. However, the initial allocation of the recovery fund—around 3.11 million USDT—sets the initial redemption rate at just 0.0104 USDT per DFX; that is, users will receive approximately one cent for each dollar lost in this first phase. Affected users have until January 1, 2028 to claim their tokens through the official portal; after that date, any unclaimed DFX supply will be permanently burned.
