Elon Musk: Who is behind Satoshi Nakamoto? Could Elon Musk and Satoshi Nakamoto be one and the same person? This may sound strange and impossible, but Sahil Gupta, a former SpaceX intern, has come up with a remarkable theory that Elon Musk is the person behind the name Satoshi Nakamoto.
This theory is not new, but Gupta pointed out interesting similarities between Musk and Nakamoto, bringing this theory to life more than ever. Gupta suggested that Musk was likely the creator of Bitcoin and was involved in co-founding PayPal.
He took as a starting point the fact that Musk wrote software for his first companies like Zip2 and X.com, which specialized in peer-to-peer payments. X.com's source code is written in the C++ programming language and is described as "monolithic", and the same goes for Bitcoin.
Additionally, Gupta analyzed Satoshi's forum posts and found similarities in expression and philosophy between Satoshi and Musk. For example, both use the phrases "strongly" and "to a great extent" in expressing their opinions. In addition, there is an article saying that Satoshi once leaked an IP address near the SpaceX area, where Musk often visits.
However, there is no direct evidence that Musk is Satoshi, only indirect evidence and a rare intersection between geographical location, technical abilities, writing style and motivating philosophy. Gupta wondered if he was making a valid point.
He said that even though Musk had joked about being Satoshi in a previous tweet, he had never confirmed it and would not take credit for it unless there was enough evidence and demand from the public. With Gupta having worked as an intern at SpaceX, perhaps more authentication is needed.
