According to CoinDesk, Binance filed a document with the Illinois court on Monday night local time, requesting the cancellation of the charges against the exchange by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).

Binance said the CFTC’s lawsuit against Binance is an attempt to “regulate any cryptocurrency (or other asset) activity related to derivatives products anywhere in the world.” The document reads, “U.S. law governs the country, but not the world. Congress did not make the CFTC the world’s policeman for derivatives.”

The CFTC filed a civil enforcement action against CZ and three Binance entities in March, alleging multiple violations of the Commodity Exchange Act (CEA) and CFTC regulations. In July, Binance and CZ filed a motion in a U.S. court to dismiss the CFTC’s charges against them, claiming that the CFTC acted beyond its jurisdiction.
