Pi Network officially admitted it, with number: 914 thousand accounts were locked in KYC and during migration to Mainnet — and part of it is already being unlocked.

417 thousand accounts were cleared of suspected duplication. The other 497 thousand, from Fast-Track, couldn’t claim the migrated balance because there wasn’t enough Pi to pay the network fee (the “gas”). A fix for this group was promised “within a week”, starting 17/09 — but up to today, 28/09, I haven’t found any official confirmation that it has already been done.

In total, the announcement describes 5 cases (duplication, Fast-Track, KYC via Yoti, an old phone, and the new palm capture), each with its own specific action inside the app.

My take: I like the execution pattern here — Pi is fixing problem by problem, instead of promising a single magical solution. It’s real progress, even if slow for people who have waited for years. But separating “done” from “promised” matters: treating the 914 thousand as resolved would be misleading, since more than half depend on a correction that still has no confirmation. And big news like this is the perfect bait for scammers to ask for your secret phrase — nobody needs it to help you with fees or KYC.

I started participating in the air-drop project back in 2019.

#pinetwork is the project with the longest participation time span so far—still no results.

Back then, I didn’t understand anything. I only saw that it was free—and it mentioned Stanford University.

Now we’re already at the “seven-year itch” stage, yet the KYC still hasn’t been approved.

This is also one of the projects with the largest number of participants and the biggest controversies.
