🔥 MLCC has just entered a new pricing cycle.
Samsung Electro-Mechanics has become the first company to raise MLCC quotes for OEM/ODM customers in Q4 2026, according to the latest research from TrendForce.
The expected increase is quite substantial:
• X5R consumer: +25% to +30%
• X6S for AI servers: +10% to +20%
The reason lies in the AI story unfolding right now: demand from AI servers and data centers is pulling more of the high-end MLCC capacity, tightening supply for other product categories. TrendForce previously also warned that high-end MLCC demand is surging alongside newer GPU generations and AI systems.
What I notice most is that Samsung raised prices first, while Murata, Taiyo Yuden, and Kyocera are still holding their prices.
If the Japanese makers also start increasing, this could be a clearer sign that MLCC is entering a new price-up cycle—and that AI hardware costs may continue to spread to other electronic devices.
AI doesn’t just need GPUs.
It needs capacitors too. And apparently, they're getting expensive. 💀
Do you think this is only the beginning of a component price hike, or will manufacturers soon increase output to cool down the market?
