On 22 Oct at 00:00 UTC (8 pm ET on 21 Oct), Aerodrome and Velodrome merge into Aero, and $AERO becomes a new token. The price is up about 80% in 30 days, against 8% for BTC (CoinMarketCap, 11 Oct). Here is what is published and what is not.

Published (Aero's terms of 9 Oct, as reported by The Defiant and TokenPost):
- Old AERO converts 1:1 into new AERO.
- VELO converts at about 0.044 AERO. VELO holders end up with about 5.5% of the new supply, which is the dilution for today's AERO holders (Crypto Briefing, 1 Oct).
- Token emissions from both old protocols stop at the merger.
- Nothing converts by itself. Self-custody holders go through an upgrade portal.

Not published yet:
- The numbers for the new reward system. Aero says rewards will be capped to track projected revenue, with no figures so far.
- How Binance will handle the conversion. Coinbase has set 2 to 4 Nov. Binance's announcements channel showed nothing as of 11 Oct.

Why the reward numbers decide it: in the last 30 days Aerodrome sent $7.8M of trading fees to AERO lockers and paid out $11.8M in new-token incentives (DefiLlama, 11 Oct). That is about $1.50 of new tokens for every $1 earned. If the new system brings that under $1, liquidity stops being paid for with dilution. If it does not, the dilution continues under a new name.

Two things specific to AERO. Fees go only to locked tokens, so AERO sitting on an exchange earns none of that revenue. And the price moved first: +22% on 25 Sep, the day the launch date was confirmed, and +18% on 10 Oct (Binance daily closes).

What would settle it: emission figures published below revenue, and a Binance notice on the conversion. A delay past 21 Oct would break the timeline.
