Trump-themed memecoin MAGA (TRUMP) saw a 78% surge following Donald Trump's positive comments on cryptocurrencies. The token, currently trading at $6, has seen a 46% increase in the last 24 hours and a 620% jump in its 24-hour trading volume. Other politically linked tokens also rallied, with Donal Tremp (TREMP) climbing 136% and Independence Token (RFKJ) up 24.4%. Memecoins have seen significant growth in 2024, with CoinMarketCap listing a record 138 erc-20 memecoins in April 2024, a 666% rise from April 2023's tally of 18. Currently, over 2,230 memecoins are listed on CoinMarketCap, making up 2.15% of the global crypto market value.
