Shares of fintech company Block rose 6.2% in after-hours trading on Tuesday after it reported strong third-quarter results and raised its full-year gross profit outlook. Block’s quarterly report showed net income of $566 million, up from $462 million in the same period last year. Block raised its full-year gross profit outlook to $12.63 billion, equivalent to 22% year-over-year growth. However, the report showed that gross profit from its Bitcoin ecosystem fell 50% year over year to $52 million in the third quarter, mainly because Block lowered fees on some Bitcoin transactions in Cash App.
