A Coldcard code bug went undetected for years, enabling roughly 100 million in hacked funds. Crypto’s favorite maxim, don’t trust, verify, wasn’t followed in this case. Strengthen wallet audits and code reviews—trust, but verify, including $BTC. #CryptoSecurity #DontTrustVerify #Coldcard

Are your funds on Binance really there ? Check it yourself in 2 minutesAfter the FTX collapse, one rule took over crypto: Don't trust, verify. Binance gives you the tool to do exactly that: Proof of Reserves (PoR). Yet very few users have ever used it. That's a mistake. What is it, concretely? PoR shows that Binance holds user assets at least 1:1. If you have 100 USDT on the platform, Binance must hold 100 USDT in reserve for you. Two technologies make this possible: • Merkle Tree: Binance links each user's hashed UID and balance, then builds a Merkle tree from all that data. If a single account or balance changes, the tree's root changes too. No quiet manipulation possible. • zk-SNARKs (zero-knowledge proofs): they guarantee that every balance is included in the tree, that no user has a negative net balance, and that the root is valid. All without revealing anyone's balance. Why does this matter? Because under the old system, a bad actor could hide a negative balance under a fake account to make required reserves look smaller. zk-SNARKs close that door. ✅ How to check that YOUR balance is included Log in to Binance (website).Go to Wallet, then the Proof of Reserves / Audit section.Find your Record ID / Merkle Leaf. It lets you independently verify that your balance was included in the report.Click Verify: you'll see your balance for each asset at snapshot time, plus confirmation that your leaf traces back to the published Merkle root. For the technical crowd: Binance publishes each user's Merkle proof plus the zk-SNARK proof and its public inputs. Anyone can verify both with the open-source code. ⚠️ What PoR does NOT prove Let's be honest: PoR isn't an absolute guarantee. • It's a snapshot at a point in time, not real-time monitoring. • It proves your assets are covered, not the company's overall financial health. But between a platform that publishes cryptographic proofs anyone can check, and one that asks you to take its word for it, the choice is easy. The real message Transparency is useless if nobody verifies. Run the check today, then again with every new report. It's your money, your responsibility. Already verified your balance? After the FTX collapse, one rule took over crypto: Don't trust, verify.
Two technologies make this possible:
• Merkle Tree: Binance links each user's hashed UID and balance, then builds a Merkle tree from all that data.
✅ How to check that YOUR balance is included
Log in to Binance (website).Go to Wallet, then the Proof of Reserves / Audit section.Find your Record ID / Merkle Leaf.
⚠️ What PoR does NOT prove
Let's be honest: PoR isn't an absolute guarantee.
• It's a snapshot at a point in time, not real-time monitoring.
• It proves your assets are covered, not the company's overall financial health.
But between a platform that publishes cryptographic proofs anyone can check, and one that asks you to take its word for it, the choice is easy.
The real message
Transparency is useless if nobody verifies. Run the check today, then again with every new report. It's your money, your responsibility.
