The real goal is creating financial assets that can move, settle, interact, and generate value within a fully functional digital financial ecosystem.
When people talk about real-world assets (RWAs), the conversation often revolves around one idea: bringing traditional financial assets onto the blockchain. For a long time, I viewed the space through that same lens. The question I kept asking was, "How much value can be tokenized and brought onchain?"
The more I learn, however, the more I think that's the wrong question.
Instead, a better question is:
"What happens after the asset arrives onchain?"
That shift in perspective completely changed how I think about projects like Dusk.
Tokenization Is Only the Beginning
It's easy to assume that the goal of RWA projects is simply to create digital versions of traditional assets. Whether it's government bonds, money market funds, ETFs, private credit, or real estate, tokenization often gets presented as the end goal.
But creating a token that represents an asset doesn't automatically make that asset useful.

This is the perspective that changed my thinking.
Many people describe blockchain as a database for recording ownership.
While that's technically true, it doesn't capture its full potential.

Tokenized assets should be capable of interacting with other financial applications.
For example, a bond could potentially serve as collateral, be included in structured investment products, or participate in lending markets.
6. Interoperability
Assets should not remain trapped inside one ecosystem. The more seamlessly they move across financial platforms, the more valuable they become.
My Perspective Has Changed
I used to evaluate RWA projects by asking one simple question:
"How much value are they bringing onchain?"
Today, I think the more meaningful question is:
"Can someone actually use the asset once it gets there?"
Because that's ultimately what determines whether tokenization creates genuine value.
A tokenized asset that cannot participate in real financial workflows offers only limited improvement over traditional systems.
But when an asset can be owned, traded, settled, transferred, used as collateral, and integrated into broader financial markets while remaining compliant, tokenization becomes much more than digitization.
It becomes infrastructure.
Final Thoughts
The future of RWAs won't be defined by the number of assets represented as tokens.
It will be defined by how useful those assets become once they are onchain.
That's why I now see projects like Dusk differently.
The real innovation isn't simply putting bonds, ETFs, money market funds, or other real-world assets onto a blockchain.
It's building the infrastructure that allows those assets to function as naturally and efficiently onchain as they do in traditional financial markets—while unlocking capabilities that legacy systems struggle to provide.
In the end, tokenization is not the destination.
It's the starting point.
