📉 Double Top Chart Pattern — How to Trade It

What is a Double Top?

A Double Top is a bearish reversal pattern that forms after an uptrend.
Price creates two highs at nearly the same level, showing buyers failed to push higher twice → sellers gain control.

Structure of the Pattern

1 Uptrend – Price is moving higher.
2 First Top – Price rejects from resistance.
3 Pullback – Price drops to a support level (this becomes the neckline).
4 Second Top – Price retests resistance but fails again.
5 Break of Neckline – Confirmation of the pattern.

✅ How to Take Entry

Best Entry Method (Safe Entry)

Wait for price to break and close below the neckline.
Then wait for a retest of the neckline (previous support becomes resistance).

Enter SELL / SHORT on rejection from this level.

📌 Aggressive Entry:
Sell immediately on strong breakout candle below neckline (higher risk).

🛑 Where to Put Stop Loss (SL)

Place Stop Loss:
Above the second Last Candel Before Breakout (safest)
OR
Just above the retest zone / resistance area.
Reason: If price goes above the second last candel , the pattern is invalid.

🎯 Where to Set Take Profit (TP)

Measured Move Method (Most Reliable)

Measure distance from:
Top → Neckline

Project the same distance downward from the neckline break.
This projected level is your main TP.

You can also scale partial profits:

TP1: Previous low / structure support
TP2: Full measured move

📌 Quick Trading Rules

Pattern forms Two equal highs after uptrend
Confirmation Neckline break
Entry Sell on retest of neckline
Stop Loss Above second top
Take Profit Height of pattern projected down

Use with:
RSI divergence
Volume decrease on second top
Bearish confirmation candle (engulfing, rejection wick)
Higher timeframes = more reliable
