Three prices agree. Does that give an AI agent enough evidence to trade?
Imagine an agent preparing an $ETH → $USDC swap.
It receives three similar quotes. But:
• One exceeds the policy’s source-age limit.
• One has no verifiable update timestamp.
• Only one meets the freshness requirement.
This is a hypothetical example, not a report on today’s market.
The prices look consistent. The evidence may still be insufficient.
I want agent risk records to distinguish:
1. A detected market risk.
2. Insufficient valid evidence.
3. A data retrieval failure.
Each requires a different response. When evidence is insufficient, the agent should follow its configured policy, pause where required, reassess, and preserve the reason.
This is part of what I’m building with Insight: checking coverage, source age, and assessment scope alongside price disagreement.
A quote retrieved just now may still contain older source data. Three endpoints also do not establish three independent sources merely by their count.
For an agent, obtaining a price is only the starting point.
