CPI is out, and the Core CPI came in hotter than expected. 👀

The headline numbers landed exactly in line with forecasts:

• CPI YoY: 3.4%, forecast 3.4%
• CPI MoM: 0.4%, forecast 0.4%
• Core CPI YoY: 2.4%, forecast 2.4%
• Core CPI MoM: 0.3%, forecast 0.2%

That last number is the one I’m watching.

Core CPI accelerated above expectations on a monthly basis, even though the annual figure continued to cool from 2.5% to 2.4%.

So the picture isn't as clean as the market wanted.

The PPI already pushed hawkish expectations higher. Now Core CPI gives the Fed another reason to stay cautious about cutting too aggressively.

For $BTC, this could mean more volatility as traders reassess the September Fed decision.

My take: the headline CPI looks neutral, but Core CPI is the problem.

The key question now is whether this is a temporary bump or the beginning of broader price pressure.

Fed hold, or are we heading for a more hawkish September?
