US spot Bitcoin ETFs pulled in $854M the week of Aug 3 — the best week since April. IBIT alone was $693M of that, roughly 81 cents of every dollar that came in.
By Aug 14, $390M had gone back out over the following six sessions, the largest weekly outflow in six weeks. And once again IBIT led the retreat, accounting for nearly all of it.
Same fund, both directions. When one product is that much of the inflow and the outflow, the "ETF flow" number isn't really a sentiment gauge, it's a snapshot of one desk's rebalancing schedule. Worth remembering before reading a green or red flow day as the market speaking.
Do you strip single-fund concentration out of ETF flow data before treating it as a signal, or take the headline number at face value?
