If you are familiar with crypto but have never traded stocks before, bStocks are an interesting concept to understand.
They look like tokens. They trade on Binance. They can move 24/7. But underneath that familiar crypto-style experience is exposure to traditional U.S. equities.
So what exactly are bStocks, and what should a beginner know before trading them?
Here are 8 important points.
1. bStocks are not the same as owning the actual stock
This is probably the first thing beginners should understand.
Binance bStocks are tokenized securities issued by BTech Holdings Limited, a Binance group affiliate. Each bStock is backed 1:1 by the corresponding U.S. share held with a regulated custodian.
However, holding a bStock does not mean you directly own shares in the underlying company.
Instead, bStocks provide exposure to the price performance and certain economic benefits of the underlying securities. Direct shareholder rights, such as voting rights, do not come with holding a bStock.
That distinction may sound technical, but it is one of the most important things to know before getting started.
2. They bring U.S. stock exposure into a blockchain environment
This is where bStocks become different from traditional stock trading.
bStocks are represented as BEP-20 tokens on BNB Smart Chain. Eligible users can trade them on Binance Spot and, subject to the applicable requirements, withdraw them to compatible BNB Smart Chain wallets.
In other words, the asset is connected to both worlds: traditional securities and blockchain infrastructure.
For people who already understand wallets and crypto trading, this can make the concept easier to approach.
3. bStocks can be traded 24/7
Traditional U.S. stock exchanges have defined trading hours.
bStocks work differently.
Binance says bStocks can be traded on its Spot market 24/7, with settlement typically completed in under one second rather than following the traditional T+1 settlement cycle.
That creates an interesting difference.
If something important happens over the weekend, bStocks can continue trading instead of waiting for the next traditional U.S. market session.
But 24/7 trading doesn't mean the asset is risk-free. Prices can still move sharply, especially when the traditional market is closed.
4. You can get fractional exposure
Another beginner-friendly feature is that you don't necessarily need enough money to purchase an entire high-priced U.S. share.
Binance's current guide says users can gain fractional U.S. stock exposure starting from as little as $5, depending on eligibility and the product available to them.
That makes the starting point much smaller for someone who wants to learn how tokenized equities work without committing a large amount of capital.
Of course, a smaller entry amount doesn't make an investment safer. The underlying market risk remains.
5. There are several ways to obtain bStocks
Binance currently describes three main ways to obtain bStocks.
You can buy an eligible underlying stock with token conversion enabled, convert an eligible stock position into bStocks at a 1:1 ratio, or buy bStocks directly through Binance Spot.
For eligible users, Binance also supports 1:1 conversion between certain stocks and their corresponding bStocks, with zero conversion fees under the stated product terms.
So bStocks aren't simply another ticker to search for. There is an underlying structure connecting the tokenized security with the corresponding stock.
6. What happens to dividends?
This is another detail beginners shouldn't overlook.
bStocks don't simply pay dividends to you as ordinary cash dividends.
According to Binance, after applicable withholding, the net dividend value is automatically reinvested into the underlying stock through an on-chain mechanism called the Multiplier, increasing the corresponding bStock balance proportionally.
Binance has also continued expanding dividend support. On September 18, it announced support for dividend distributions via bStocks for Broadcom, Invesco QQQ Trust, Meta and Seagate.
That's a useful example of how traditional corporate actions can be incorporated into a tokenized structure.
7. The bStocks lineup is continuing to expand
This is not a product that has stayed unchanged.
In September alone, Binance added several new bStocks trading pairs. Recent additions included CEA Industries (BNCB) on September 14 and GoPro (GPROB) and Reddit (RDDTB) on September 16.
Binance has also been expanding how bStocks interact with its ecosystem, including support for certain bStocks as collateral and integration with trading tools.
For beginners, the takeaway isn't that every new listing is an opportunity.
It's that tokenized equities are becoming a broader part of the platform's product ecosystem.
8. Check eligibility before you trade
This is the part that should never be skipped.
bStocks are not available in every jurisdiction, and Binance states that they are not offered to U.S. persons. Access also depends on the applicable product terms and eligibility requirements.
So before buying anything, check whether bStocks are available to you and understand the relevant terms and risks.
And remember: tokenization changes how an asset can be represented, accessed and traded. It does not eliminate the possibility of losing money when the underlying market moves against you.
So, what are bStocks really?
For me, the easiest way to understand bStocks is not simply “stocks but on Binance.”
It is more specific than that.
bStocks are tokenized securities designed to bring exposure to selected U.S. equities into a blockchain-based trading environment.
They combine familiar elements of traditional markets — underlying U.S. securities, dividends and stock exposure — with features associated with crypto, such as blockchain tokens, 24/7 trading and compatible wallet-based custody.
That combination is what makes bStocks worth learning about.
Whether you are coming from traditional investing or from crypto, the important thing is to understand what you are actually holding before you trade it.
The more tokenized assets develop, the more important that distinction between “owning a stock” and “holding a tokenized security representing an interest in an underlying stock” is likely to become.
