Ever wondered how the internet came into existence?

Well heres my little findings

As a girl that grew up in Freetown Sierra Leone 🇸🇱 . I couldn’t help but wonder how exactly the internet work ?

Like how can I send a message from one place to another and it reaches the intended destination no matter how far we are.

How does email work, how do I get connected to the internet even
And finally-How the internet came into existence

This is going to be a brief run down on how the internet work

Here are some of my findings:

Currently in the year 2025 over 73% of the worlds population were found to be online
Each person uses around six different types of connected devices
These devises can pass information safely and quickly.

Ever wondered how this information transfer or work in general
The answer simply is-Types of network protocols

In short the internet works on invisible rules called types of network protocols (a network is a group is connected devices with the aim to transfer information they can be wired or without wires)
These are guidelines that help the digital world stay organized

What is a network protocol
This is like a language that devices use talk to each other

When you send an email, to actually transport this message to the receiver safely and quickly it is broken into bits and uses these rules to pass the message abd then it is transformed back i to the original message by using these different

Without these rules communication online would be very confusing.

These network protocols are set of standards that determine how data is transported between different devices connected to the same network

These protocols are there to also regulate errors for security purposes and speed.
There are different protocols for different purposes

The Ethernet likely started in 1974 or earlier which is how two computers communicate
Here the some of the network protocols that we use
The Transmission control protocol(TCP),IP address routers,JPEG (data transmiting protocol)
MP3,encryption(SSL), HTTPS(closer to the usimg applications)

I used to find cryptography and blockchain difficult to understand
But here are what makes me understand them better

A block chain is a special way of storing data digitally using the Digital Ledger Technology.

It is simply a page or ledger thar contains information about various transactions that occurred and they cannot be changed or tampered with thats what makes it special

Here are some features
-must have a hash
-cannot be changed
-must have a oublic and private key
-proof of work
-should be mined

While cryptography
Is the science of securing or protecting valuable information by transforming it into a secure format/code
Only someone with the right key can understand it

It comes from greek words
krypto- (hidden)
Graphy- (writing)

So it’s basically the art of writing but with special characters not everyone can understand
