Shiba Inu has lost much of the excitement that carried it through 2021, and its latest price performance has brought an uncomfortable question back into focus. Has SHIB simply entered another difficult period, or has the famous meme coin finally reached the end of its story?

Crypto YouTuber Matthew Perry believes Shiba Inu remains alive because its enormous community still gives it recovery potential. Our own assessment reaches a more cautious position. SHIB price now trades below an important level from 2021, which makes the current situation far more serious than an ordinary market decline.

Matthew Perry Believes Shiba Inu Still Has Recovery Potential

Matthew Perry discussed whether Shiba Inu has lost its relevance during a YouTube video published on August 14. His central argument was clear: Shiba Inu is not dead because its community still exists.

Perry explained that every meme coin has its own life cycle. New tokens can record enormous percentage increases before interest disappears. Older meme coins can also return during an altcoin season, especially when money begins moving toward riskier cryptocurrency assets.

Shiba Inu has one advantage that most newer projects lack. SHIB already has global name recognition and more than 3 million holders. Perry believes those holders give the token a better chance of returning than less established meme coins.

His confidence does not mean SHIB has avoided serious problems. Perry acknowledged that trading volume has fallen and online interest has weakened. Shiba Inu videos also receive less attention than they did during the token’s strongest period.

Recent market figures support those concerns. SHIB price has fallen around 68% during the past year, and its market capitalization stands near $2.63 billion. Daily trading volume remains close to $58 million.

Perry still believes the token could reach a market capitalization between $10 billion and $50 billion during another powerful meme coin rally. Such a move could produce a major percentage increase without requiring SHIB to reach $0.01 or $1.

Those extremely high price targets now appear unrealistic to him. Shiba Inu’s enormous supply would require a massive valuation unless token burns removed a large portion of the circulating coins.

Perry believes the current burn process is too small to produce that outcome. However, he maintains that SHIB can still deliver a strong recovery because it remains an established meme coin with millions of holders.

Our Shiba Inu Price Analysis Presents A Much Darker Picture

Perry’s community argument deserves consideration, but our own Shiba Inu price analysis focuses on what SHIB has actually done since 2021. That record makes the “dead coin” question much harder to dismiss.

A look at the SHIB chart shows that the token dropped near $0.0000061 after its first major spike during 2021. Shiba Inu price now trades around $0.00000444, which places it below that early level.

This means some buyers who entered shortly after SHIB’s initial 2021 rally would currently face losses. They would have held through several market cycles without receiving a positive return at today’s price.

Very few holders would have expected that outcome during 2021. SHIB later recorded a historic rally and became one of the largest meme coins in the market. However, the token has now erased that entire advance and fallen beneath one of its earliest important price areas.

That price history creates a serious warning. Shiba Inu has retained its community, exchange listings, and familiar brand, but none of those advantages have stopped SHIB price from breaking below its 2021 floor.

SHIB Price Must Reclaim Its Broken Trend Line Before Recovery Becomes Credible

Another problem comes from a trend line that supported Shiba Inu price for several years. SHIB first broke beneath that line during February 2026. A later breakdown during May confirmed that buyers were struggling to recover the lost area.

The former support has now become resistance. SHIB must break above this line before its broader price structure can begin recovering.

Continued trading below that resistance leaves Shiba Inu exposed to further losses. The chart provides little evidence of a lasting recovery until buyers reclaim the level and defend it during a later pullback.

A successful breakout could revive hope around the token. Strong trading volume would make such a move more convincing, especially if the wider crypto market also improves. Another rejection would strengthen the argument that SHIB has entered a much deeper decline.

Shiba Inu Is Still Alive, But Its Price Needs A Major Catalyst

Matthew Perry’s view rests on Shiba Inu’s large community, established identity, and potential role during another altcoin season. Those factors mean SHIB cannot be written off completely.

Our assessment reaches a less optimistic verdict based on the chart. Shiba Inu price trades below its early 2021 low, and a broken multiyear trend line now blocks the route upward. Those conditions make SHIB look close to dead from a price perspective.

A major catalyst could change that situation. The first real proof would come when SHIB reclaims its former support and remains above it. Until that happens, the community may still be alive, but the price continues to tell a far more troubling story.

FAQs

No, Shiba Inu coin is practically and mathematically extremely unlikely to ever reach $1.

Will Shiba hit $1 cent in 2030?

No, Shiba Inu (SHIB) will not hit 1 cent ($0.01) by 2530, let alone 2030. Reaching 1 cent is mathematically impossible under current token supply conditions because it would require an absurd market capitalization in the trillions, far exceeding the entire global economy
