If you were holding spot, you felt it.
Most portfolios took the drawdown as-is.
There was a way to limit the damage.
Here’s a simple example of how options work in practice.
Scenario 1: Holding spot only
You hold 10 $ETH.
Entry price $3,035.
Portfolio value $30,350.
$ETH drops 22% to around $2,367.
Your position is now worth ~$23,670.
That’s a ~$6,680 loss.
No decisions.
No protection.
Scenario 2: Spot + downside protection
You still hold 10 $ETH,
but you add a simple protective option.
Cost of protection ~$600.
Downside limited to around 5%.
ETH$ETH drops the same 22%.
Spot loses ~$6,680,
the option offsets most of the move.
Final result:
Loss of roughly $1,500 instead of $6,680.
