That makes little sense to a normal user.

EIP-8141 could change this by letting apps or wallets pay the gas on your behalf and charge you in stablecoins instead.

So you could hold USDC, pay the fee in USDC, and never need to keep a small amount of ETH around just to make a transaction.

But the interesting part goes beyond gas.

Frame Transactions could let wallets bundle things like approvals and swaps into a single transaction, while also making it easier to upgrade wallet security without forcing users to move their funds to a new address.

That is the kind of abstraction crypto needs.

Users shouldn't have to understand which token pays gas, approve one transaction, sign another, then move funds just because they upgraded their wallet.

If Ethereum gets this right, the blockchain becomes less visible to the user.

And honestly, that's probably how it should be, don’t you think?

18 people have been charged in what prosecutors describe as the first $BTC RICO case, involving the alleged theft of $263M in crypto from a single victim.

At the center is 22-year-old Malone Lam, who allegedly posed as Google and Gemini staff to convince a Washington, D.C. resident to surrender access to 4,100 BTC.

The money allegedly funded an absurd lifestyle. The group reportedly spent $4M at LA clubs in just one month, while Lam allegedly dropped $569K in a single night.

And the operation allegedly didn’t stop behind bars. Prosecutors say Lam continued giving orders, including having Hermès Birkin bags delivered to his girlfriend in Miami.

A $263M Bitcoin theft, a RICO case, and a fortune allegedly spent like pocket change. Damn!

$BTC OGs are becoming more active.

According to CryptoQuant analyst Darkfost, the 90-day average of BTC moved by these long-term holders has climbed to around 1,500 BTC.

UPDATE: The purported Liquid Network white-hat hacker is offering to return most of the BTC.

After withdrawing roughly 4,000 $BTC worth around $320M from Liquid’s Federation wallet, the hacker sent an onchain message to Blockstream asking:

> “Sending most back to [federation address], is that ok?”

They also warned that the chain remains vulnerable and told operators to patch every node.

> “Please fix the bug first.”

If most of the $BTC comes back, this might be the most expensive bug bounty ever.

Roughly 4,000 $BTC just left Liquid Network’s Federation wallet.

That’s around $320M worth of Bitcoin, with Liquid saying the withdrawals were carried out by purported white-hat hackers.

The sidechain has now been paused while the team investigates the incident.

Tether-backed crypto exchange Orionx is shutting down permanently after a forensic audit found a $7M+ custody shortfall.

The audit found a gap between what Orionx’s internal records claimed it held and what was actually sitting in its custody wallets across $BTC - $ETH - $XRP and $POL

The company has accused two former co-founders of involvement, alleging millions in crypto were transferred out between 2018 and 2021. Both deny wrongdoing, and the cause of the shortfall remains unclear.

Withdrawals are currently suspended as Orionx works to recover customer assets.

Another painful reminder: an exchange balance on a screen is most likely not the same thing as assets you can verify onchain. DYOR!
