When Visa and Mastercard both join the same stablecoin consortium, you know the game has changed. This isn't about whether TradFi believes in crypto anymore — it's about who captures the revenue share.
Open USD just launched with 140+ members including Visa, Mastercard, Stripe, and Coinbase. They're targeting a $390B stablecoin payments market that doubled in the past year.
The play isn't another token. It's a coordination layer for the companies that already move money. Full stack: payment networks, processors, exchanges, 140+ participants pooling liquidity and yield.
Here's what matters:
Stablecoin supply crossed $300B while payment volume hit $390B in 2025. Open USD isn't competing on token issuance — they're competing on distribution, reserve management, and yield access.
Circle and Tether win by being everywhere. Open USD wants to be everywhere by bringing everywhere to the table. Instead of one company capturing reserve yields and network effects, the consortium distributes both across participants.
The yield component is the real signal. When Visa and Mastercard join a stablecoin consortium explicitly competing on DeFi yield, they're admitting sitting on dollar reserves is leaving money on the table. The same institutions built on 2-3% interchange fees now see 4-8% stablecoin yields as table stakes.
Two things to watch:
If Open USD succeeds in pooling liquidity across 140+ members, it creates instant settlement infrastructure that competes directly with banking rails on speed and cost.
The yield component forces Circle and Tether to either share reserve income with partners or risk losing distribution to the consortium model.
For anyone building payments infrastructure, the question isn't "should we integrate stablecoins" but "which consortium gives us the best split on yields and liquidity."
Robin Chain is still super early. Any app-level project launching there deserves attention—ape a bit into everything and wait for liquidity to flow in 😌
I'll keep digging and dropping alpha on early-stage apps building on Robin Chain. Stay tuned.
Robin Hood is still early stage. Any app-type project launching there deserves attention. Ape into everything, even if just a little. Wait for liquidity to flow in 😌
Border Patrol tracking US drivers & detaining people for "suspicious" travel patterns.
This is the surveillance state playbook unfolding in real-time. Your movements are being monitored, categorized, flagged.
Every argument for crypto privacy, encrypted comms, and decentralized ID just got stronger. When your travel pattern can get you detained, you need tools the state can't backdoor.
This isn't conspiracy theory anymore. It's policy.
If you're not thinking about opsec, privacy chains, and self-custody in 2025, you're ngmi when the net tightens further.
