🔐 Electrum Wallet Releases Version 4.8.2

Electrum has released version 4.8.2, bringing multiple security fixes and stronger protection across its codebase.

⚡ The update addresses a critical backup issue affecting some Lightning wallets using non-deterministic keys and anchored channels.

🛡️ It also includes:
• Stronger Lightning HTLC validation
• Rejection of malformed xpub/xprv keys
• Broader security hardening
• Android QR scanner protection against reading screenshots

⚠️ Important for affected users: Electrum says users will receive a warning when starting the wallet and should export a new backup, because older backups may not correctly restore funds in the affected scenario.

This is Electrum's third security-focused release since July, following versions 4.8.0 and 4.8.1.

🇺🇸 US Jobs Report: Stronger Than Expected

The US economy added 162K jobs in August, far above the 56K expected. July was also revised higher, while June and July together saw a 55K upward revision.

📈 Key highlights:
• Food services & drinking places: +59K
• Local government education: +42K
• Manufacturing: +16K
• Healthcare: +13K

⚠️ Not everything was positive. Information-sector employment fell by 23K, mainly across computing infrastructure, publishing, and broadcasting.

Overall, the labor market looks stronger than expected. Now the big question is: How will this affect the Fed's next move on interest rates? 👀

🇺🇸 US Jobs Report: The Revision May Matter More Than the Headline

The August jobs number came in strong at 162K, but the bigger story might actually be the revision.

July was previously reported at −23K, but it has now been revised to +23K. That’s a 46K swing, turning July from a contraction into growth.

This also changes the Fed picture.

A second consecutive negative payroll reading could have made a September rate hike much harder to justify. But with July now positive, that concern has largely disappeared.

The revision trend has also turned more positive. June and July were revised up by a combined 55K, reversing the earlier narrative of a rapidly weakening labor market.

📊 Bottom line:
The US labor market is showing more resilience than the previous data suggested.

Now the market has a new question: Does stronger employment give the Fed more room to keep rates higher for longer?

🇺🇸🇨🇦 U.S.–Canada Trade Talks Break Down

U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick has put the blame largely on Canada after the latest trade negotiations fell apart at the final stage.

According to reports, Lutnick said Canadian negotiators introduced what he called “outrageous demands” just hours before the deadline.

One of the major points reportedly involved medium- and heavy-duty trucks, which came up on Friday as negotiations broke down.

Lutnick even said he asked a Canadian minister:

“Are you trying to blow up the negotiations?”

The response? They declined to comment.

Lutnick claimed Canada “destroyed this negotiation for purely political reasons,” while also acknowledging that the U.S. may have made some temporary demands during the talks.

The bigger issue is the potential impact on trade. If no agreement is reached, the previously threatened 50% U.S. tariff on Canadian goods could become a major economic pressure point. 📉

Are those little Bitcoin dips making you nervous? 👀

Honestly, I don’t think there’s much to panic about.

Over the last few months, we’ve seen the market face heavy selling after almost every consolidation or recovery phase. That made sense because we were still dealing with a bear market, where dumps were stronger and pumps struggled to hold.

But this time, the price action looks different.

I’ve already said that this week could be a real test for BTC. After such a strong pump, the important thing is what happens next. If Bitcoin avoids a major dump and continues holding its ground, that could be a strong sign that the bear market may have already found its bottom and the market is transitioning into a new bullish phase. 📈

And if you look at the chart right now, BTC isn’t really breaking down. It’s mostly moving sideways and consolidating.

Personally, I wouldn’t be surprised if the next big move is another pump rather than a deep correction. Small pullbacks can still happen, obviously. Nothing in crypto follows a script because apparently chaos needed its own financial market. 😂
