Critical BTCPay Server Vulnerability Has Been Exploited

BTCPay Server has issued an emergency security advisory confirming that a critical vulnerability has been actively exploited, resulting in user funds being stolen.

The vulnerability affects BTCPay Server versions prior to 2.4.2, including the 2.4.2 release candidate.

According to the advisory:

• Unauthenticated remote attackers could obtain LND macaroon credential files
• Compromised credentials could allow attackers to take control of LND nodes and move funds
• Actual user fund losses have already been confirmed
• The exact amount stolen has not yet been disclosed
• BTCPay Server’s on-chain wallets are not affected

Action for LND users: Upgrade immediately to BTCPay Server 2.4.2 and LND 0.21.1.

BTCPay Server is a free, open-source, self-hosted Bitcoin payment processor used by individuals and businesses worldwide.

If you operate an LND node, this is a security update that should not be delayed.

Bitcoin Faces Key Decision Zone at $65,300

Bitcoin remains in a short-term consolidation range, with $65,300 emerging as a key level for the next move, according to crypto trader Killa.

The current setup:

• Above $65,300: A sustained breakout could open the way toward $66,900
• Below $65,300: BTC could retest the monthly opening level near $62,700
• Current structure: Bitcoin has remained range-bound for roughly two months, with no confirmed breakout yet

Killa has previously made notable calls during this market cycle, including a short position around $74,688 in April and a shift to long positions during the June market sell-off.

For now, $65,300 remains the key watershed level to watch.

Ethereum ICO Whale Moves MKR After 7+ Years

An Ethereum ICO-era whale has become active again after more than seven years of inactivity.

According to on-chain analyst Ai Yi, the wallet:

• Received 40,000 ETH during the 2015 Ethereum ICO
• Accumulated 7,020.84 MKR between 2018 and 2019
• Recently transferred 3,510.42 MKR, worth approximately $4.41 million, to a new address
• This is reportedly the first MKR movement from the wallet in more than seven years
• The position currently has an estimated $1.506 million in unrealized profit

No sale has been confirmed so far. The MKR was transferred to a new address.

The key question: Is this simply a wallet reshuffle, or could the whale be preparing for a potential sale?

🚨 3 MEN CHARGED IN ALLEGED BITCOIN KIDNAPPING PLOT

Three men in the U.S. have been charged over an alleged plot to break into a Connecticut residence and force victims to transfer cryptocurrency linked to a multi-hundred-million-dollar Bitcoin theft.

According to U.S. prosecutors:

• 👤 Sedric Louis, John Davis & Martel Williams were charged with conspiracy to interfere with commerce through robbery
• 🚗 The suspects allegedly traveled to Connecticut and surveilled the target and his family
• 📹 The operation was reportedly abandoned after concerns about security cameras
• ⚖️ Each defendant faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted
• 🚫 All three have pleaded not guilty

Authorities also said another group allegedly carried out the same plan later, with six people arrested in connection with a Lamborghini Urus carjacking.

⚠️ Important: These are allegations. The indictment is not evidence of guilt, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

This case highlights another growing security risk around large crypto holdings: physical attacks can become a threat when criminals believe someone has access to significant cryptocurrency.
