📊 Weekly Bilan (Oct 19-25): $BTC Back Near $80K as Oil, Iran and the Fed Collide 🛢️
This week had two halves ⚖️
Monday to Wednesday: BTC climbed from about $82K to a weekly high near $84.9K after China’s GDP beat forecasts and tech stocks bounced. Spot ETFs took in about $1.1B in three days 📈
Thursday to Sunday: it reversed. Disappointing results from Meta and Lam Research hit tech, ETFs lost about $774M over two days, and on Saturday the US cut staff at embassies in Jordan, Lebanon, Qatar and the UAE after an intelligence memo on Iranian threats. With stock markets closed, BTC dipped to about $79.1K, then recovered above $80K within two hours ⚡ It closed the week near $80.2K, down about 2%, a third red week in a row. $ETH fell about 4%.
🛢️ Oil is now the inflation story. Brent closed Friday at $116.7 (+6% on the week) after Houthi attacks on Saudi energy facilities. On Monday it dropped toward $110-114 as mediators traveled to Tehran. Higher oil means higher inflation and a Fed that stays hawkish, so this one headline can flip the market in either direction.
🥇 $XAU lost about 4% and closed near $3,996, its lowest since mid-July, even on days when yields fell. When oil lifts inflation expectations, real yields rise and gold’s safe-haven role fades. BTC and gold both traded as rate-sensitive assets this week, not as hedges.
😨 Fear & Greed went from 68 (Greed) on Thursday to 50 (Neutral) on Monday. Sentiment peaked right before the drop.
📅 This week
• Wed, Oct 28, 2:00 PM ET: Fed decision and Warsh’s press conference. A hold is priced at roughly 90%, and the focus is on the signal for a December hike (odds around 70-80%) 🏛️
• Thu, Oct 29, 8:30 AM ET: Q3 GDP (forecast about 3.0% vs 2.2%) and September PCE, with core expected at 3.1% YoY
• Microsoft and Alphabet report Wednesday, Amazon Thursday
