$TGB 🚨 OVER $10 BILLION IN CRYPTO VAULTS — BUT HOW MANY INVESTORS UNDERSTAND THE REAL RISKS?
The cryptocurrency market continues to evolve.
According to financial news published on 19 October 2026, deposits in crypto lending vaults have surpassed US$10 billion.
Some strategies advertise annualised yields ranging from approximately 3% to over 20%.
But here’s an important question:
Where does that yield actually come from?
As a Chartered Accountant, I believe investors should understand the financial mechanics behind any return before committing their money.
A 20% advertised APY does not mean a 20% guaranteed profit.
We must understand the risks.
1. Source of Yield
Is the return generated through genuine lending activity, trading strategies, token incentives or other sources?
2. Collateral Quality
What assets support the lending positions, and what happens when their market values decline?
3. Smart Contract Risk
Have the protocols been independently audited? Are there vulnerabilities that could expose investors to losses?
4. Liquidity Risk
Can users actually withdraw their funds when market conditions deteriorate?
5. Governance and Transparency
Who controls the vault, makes lending decisions and earns management fees?
These questions matter whether we are evaluating traditional financial products, decentralised finance platforms or emerging digital assets.
Blockchain can improve financial efficiency, but technology alone does not eliminate financial risk.
I’m David Khoo, a Chartered Accountant from Malaysia who believes the digital-asset industry needs more financial education, transparent governance and responsible innovation.
💬 Let me ask the Binance Square community:
Would you choose:
A. A higher advertised yield with greater uncertainty
B. A lower expected yield with clearer risk disclosures and stronger safeguards
Or would you avoid both until you fully understand the investment?
