The US is preparing for a potential ground invasion of Iran by amassing additional forces in the Middle East.
If everything goes according to plan, three US aircraft carriers and two new amphibious assault groups could be positioned off the Iranian coast by the end of November, bringing the total US troop presence in the region to 60,000.
Washington has also deployed two additional Patriot air defense batteries—one to protect a Saudi oil facility and the other to safeguard a Qatari gas terminal. This move follows concerns that Iran might retaliate against the energy infrastructure of Persian Gulf states should the US resume large-scale bombing campaigns.
